School Improvement Plan

School Improvement - Main Priorities 2026-2028

Every year we write a School Improvement Plan which outlines the key areas we have identified as an area for focus, improvement and development throughout the this and the next academic year. The improvement plan is written in conjunction with stakeholders and is written in line with the new budgetary year.

Priority 1: To strengthen staff understanding of GDS in order to improve outcomes for children achieving the higher standard, in core subjects

Nelmes Primary School has consistently high outcomes both in terms of progress and attainment for our children and this is clearly evidenced in our end of key stage outcomes.  The focus on developing learners at the higher end ensures children are able to at least strongly meet end of year expectations or achieve greater depth, at end of year outcomes throughout the school.

Priority 2: To further strengthen our curriculum offer through the development of subjects in ensuring a consistent enrichment approach beyond and within the schemes of work.

Nelmes Primary School has a strong focus on enrichment in its many forms.  This renewed focus allows the school to audit its current offer for subjects and enrichment across the school and allows us to identify areas of development in key focus areas for enrichment.

Priority 3: To audit our SEND provision across the whole school in light of the government white paper and to ensure that our children continue to make very good progress and receive the full curriculum offer

Nelmes Primary School has a strong SEND offer and we have many adaptive learning practices, support and interventions in place.  This focus on the improvement plan allows the school to audit our practices whilst ensuring our SEND offer is robust and sustainable.  The focus is also on ensuring our SEND children continue make excellent progress in relation to their starting points and develop their  independence.
